RECOGNIZE THE AUTHENTIC MARSEILLE SOAP
AN AUTHENTIC MARSEILLE SOAP
La Savonnerie du fer à Cheval is committed to defending authentic Marseille soap and the know-how linked to Marseille soap.
We have obtained the EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) label, but also OFG (Origine France Garantie) and are co-founder of the UPSM (Professional Union of Marseille Soap),
Fer à Cheval is a founding member of the UPSM, the Union of Marseille Soap Professionals which, through its collective brand recognizable by its logo, works for the promotion of traditional Marseille soap. It established specifications meeting three main criteria:
A geographic origin: Marseille region
Manufacturing in cauldrons using the Marseille process in 5 steps
A composition of exclusively vegetable oils and without additives (preservative, dye, perfume, animal fat)
We have also filed with the INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property) and with the government a request for a PGI ( Protected Geographic Identity ) for real Marseille soap. The INPI was due to issue its verdict a few months ago, but unfortunately we have still not received any responses to date.
At the same time, in order to inform our consumers about the authenticity of Marseille soap, we created this logo. If you find this symbol on a Marseille soap, it means that it was made in Marseille, according to the Marseille process and is composed only of exclusively vegetable oils, salt and soda.
